Tropical Leafwing (Anaea aidea )

Caterpillar HostplantsVarious species of goatweed (Croton spp.) are listed as hosts within its normal range, but none of our local species have been listed. However, I have reared this species on Three Seed Croton (Croton lindheimerianus), one of the more common species in our area.

Seasonal Flight DataRare stray to north Texas.
General NotesSome authors refer to this species as Anaea troglodyta. Does not overwinter in our area. Hindwing is more "scalloped" in the Tropical Leafwing than in the Goatweed Leafwing.
