Mexican Fritillary (Euptoieta hegesia meridiania)

Caterpillar Hostplants Yellow Alder (Turnera sp.), Fetid Passionflower (Passiflora foetida), a native that is not often found in nurseries. I have also raised this species on our native Blue Passionvine or Maypops (Passiflora incarnata). It no doubt would use other Passifloras as well.

Has occasionally been found in Tarrant County.
Seasonal Flight DataA stray, not to be expected until summer.
General NotesA rare stray into North Texas.
